ALEX AMOR releases magnetic new single 'Avalanche'

Next up in our New Releases feature is Scottish singer-songwriter Alex Amor, who returns with her lead single 'Avalanche', our first peek at her forthcoming album 'Heavenly Bodies', due for release in August.

The foundations of this track lie in soft-rock arrangements and dreamy harmonies. 'Avalanche', described by Amor, is about 'the unsettling moment in a relationship where something has shifted, but only one of you is willing to see it. While you’re starting to recognise it for what it is, the other person is still holding on, almost wilfully ignoring the cracks."

It captures the quiet tension that exists before a relationship falls apart. Rather than being a heartbreak anthem, Amor focuses on the slow, gradual buildup of pressure that comes with the realisation that a relationship is ending. The original demo of 'Avalanche' was created in her childhood bedroom in Glasgow and later developed further by collaborators. Peter Brien, Baz Kaye and Karma Kid in London. Amor and these collaborators maintained the intimate bedroom songwriting with an expansive production sound. Bringing in shimmering guitars, gauzy vocals and intricate atmospheric layers which elevate the track without losing its sense of identity.

Posing itself as the first preview of Amor's debut record, 'Avalanche', hints at the wider themes we can come to expect from her biggest body of work yet, signalling her as an artist stepping into a more ambitious chapter.

Alex Amor’s Debut album hits shelves on 21st of August.
